November Prayer Requests

Cape Town Metropolitan Evangelism Team

Praise the Lord for a successful World Soccer Discovery team of youth/student ministers who came to Cape Town to plan for the 2010 World Cup of soccer. The Discovery team was here to see where ministry could be done in South Africa during which all the children will be off from school and many people from around the world will be visiting Cape Town. The team was able to locate three strategic schools to minister in during the World Cup. The schools will be closed during the World Cup. The teams will come to minister at the schools through sports clinics, Kids Games, skills development and spending time with the students.

Pray for all the details to be sorted out, for lodging, transport and flights coming to South Africa in June/July 2010.

Communications Support Team

Several team members are doing coverages for the virtual prayer walk and World Cup focuses. Pray that they will see the cities of South Africa with God’s eyes.

Pray that the Africa Stories magazine and Web site (www.africastories.org), due to be distributed and online in November, will tell God’s story in an effective way.

Pray that Storying T4T groups will continue to challenge believers and interest non-believers in knowing God’s Word.

Pray for Tom as he learns about needs and opportunities in the use of indigenous music throughout the affinities the support center serves.

Pray for new team members as they settle in to life in Jo’burg.

Durban Urban Evangelism Team

W is a new believer from a M background. She has been being discipled by S but has recently begun to make excuses as to why she cannot meet. It has finally come to the point that there is no communication between the two of them. Pray that W will contact S and that they will be able to continue studying together. Pray for W’s husband and two teen-age children who are not believers.

Support Team

We have had many members of the finance team undergoing surgeries of various kinds during the last weeks. Pray for complete healing for these team members.

The temporary office space has been plagued by power overloads, which has disrupted work on many days. Pray that these can be overcome and work can be done in a timely manner.

Please pray that the new building can be completed by the end of November so the finance team can move and get set up before the start of the new year and the change over to the new Financial Edge program.

Johannesburg Evangelism Team

Pray for the vision casting trip led by Gavin.

Pray that more South African pastors catch such a vision for their areas and people.

Pray they will want to bring us along and that we will, led by the Holy Spirit, will have hearts prepared for the journey.

Logistics Support Team

Pray for the building project at BIMS. Pray that things go smoothly and will be finished by the end of November.

Personnel Support Team

Several of our folks involved in 40/40 in Zambia. The Randolphs will be there for the debriefing times. This is always a good time to meet the new folks and know how to pray for them. Then they will be there for the Zambia Prayer Retreat. It has been a long time since making connections. Zambia has a lot of new folks. Pray for wise counsel.

Pray also for those missionaries who are struggling with serious family problems back in the US. It is hard to be away from our families when they are going through major struggles.

Pray also for all our TCKs that they will know Jesus as savior and Lord and then be a witness in their various school situations.

Pray for parents’ guidance in how to best provide for their TCKs’ educational needs. Pray for Father to grant wisdom and motivation to do whatever is needed with love and joy. Pray parents will know how to meet their TCKs’ individual needs.

Pray for all our new folks waiting on their visas and their belonging. It is hard to feel settled without your own clutter around you.

Port Elizabeth Evangelism Team

Please pray for the Boyd and Rhonda Hall as they minister to youth through sports. Pray that God will open up the hearts of these future leaders to His gospel. May these youth come to know Christ and be bold witnesses for Him.

Soweto Evangelism Team

Praise the Lord…on Sundays, Faith Baptist Church is full of people! They sit knee to knee and knee to thigh on benches, beds and chairs. All the kids and the overflow of people sit outside. Career missionary, Alan Locke, has spoken with a Counselor about a plot of land centrally located in Snake Park.

Please pray we would find favor with the Counselor and a piece of land. Pray for money to be available whenever the land is ready to be sold. Although it is crowded, pray that the worshippers will be faithful and more people in Snake Park will come to know Jesus as Lord!

Tshwane Evangelism Team

Since the end of apartheid (more that 15 years ago), the city center has become 99% black. We only have one black Baptist church planted in the city and this (City Baptist Church) is primarily reaching international blacks from other African countries. This is good, but not enough to impact this large city. We need to plant more churches. We especially need a strong South African Black Baptist church to be planted in the heart of Pretoria. Pray for this effort and for open doors. Pray for nationals and national leaders to partner with us in the efforts to plant new churches in the urban area.

Pray for the Women’s Precepts Bible Study that Bev leads in our home every Wednesday morning.

Windhoek Evangelism Team

New Song Family Church is a young church started by IMB missionaries that meets in a local school in the urban setting of Windhoek. In addition to the church being young, the majority of those in the congregation are young. Many come from YWAP, the youth outreach sponsored by the church, others young families seeking a vibrant place to worship together as a family.

Career missionaries, Ron and Lisa Jones, ask you to join with them in prayer as they seek to encourage national leaders in organizing and structuring the church in a way that would bring glory and honor to the Lord. Much progress has been made in the past few months as elders and deacons have been appointed and a children’s ministry put into place. However, much still needs to be done as those in leadership seek to find God’s vision for the direction of the church. Pray that in the coming months the Lord would pour out His blessing upon this congregation as they seek to find His will for the future!
